A as in ache or table

E as in eat or meet

I as in ice or like

O as in open or more

U as in unicorn or tune

(Y sometimes sounds like an E as in funny or like an I as in fly)

Practice long vowel sounds - When a word has a vowel followed by a consonant and an e, the vowel sound changes from a short vowel to a long vowel.
